2013 Trip to Malawi

A group of 5 from World Harvest Church of Roswell, GA were joined by a volunteer from Brazil.

In May 2013, Jane went to Malawi with a team of 6 people. They had supplies to begin the work that she started back in 2011.  In 2011, she witnessed helpless children experiencing homelessness, poverty, and hunger. Jane pledged to do her part to change the lives of the Malawians for the better saying, “The need is so great, but I cannot do it on my own. Other people have to get involved.”
During the first of two weeks that Jane and her team spent in Phalombe, BCV, Inc. started to build the orphanage facilities on the land that they previously acquired. The labor force arrived, building supplies were purchased and the land was cleared within that week! Running water was also installed via piping to the land where the facilities are being built. These facilities which the organization has started to build, when finished, will be able to house 400 boys and girls.

Also during their two week stay in Malawi, the team was able to distribute clothing, toys, school supplies and food to upwards of 5,000 children and countless adults in the region. Daily children’s services consisted of Bible lessons, games, singing and dancing. The children never left empty handed. The team worked with church members and locals to lay cement flooring, as well as apply and finish window frames into the church where the children are currently being fed daily.
